Prima Donna - All the heart and none of the drama!
Izzie Agresta is back at it again! She is riding Prima Donna AKA Skittles, a medium pony with a step as beautiful as a warmblood. We are so excited to see these two grow together. Congratulations on your lease, Izzie!
Another Gray!
Ally is back on another great gray pony, Farnley Cortland! These two are destined and qualified for Pony Finals in the medium pony division. Ally has come so far! We are excited to see their upcoming adventure. They are ready to rocket this summer!
Jump for Joy! Greta Joins Stony hill!
Greta Heimbold encompasses a lifetime of riding and dedication to the equestrian sport. Greta is an expert in hunters, jumpers and equitation. She is an Alumni of Cazenovia College, and she continued her education with many years riding with our US show jumping coach and many Olympic Veterans. Many of the horses and ponies Greta has trained have become top winners in the US and Canada. Greta as well as her students have had many wins at venues across the United States and Canada, including WEF, WEC, HITS, Tryon, Vermont Summer Festival, Lake Placid, Devon, Kentucky, The Royal as well as many other shows. Greta enjoys setting goals with her students and achieving them with positive training. Stony Hill is so thrilled to have her on our team!
Piaffe and passage master clinician comes to Stony Hill!
Best known for his techniques in developing piaffe and passage, Alfredo Hernandez, came for a 3-day dressage clinic at Stony Hill. He has helped numberous top US riders work on their piaffe and passage, including Stephen Peters, so we feel honored to host a trainer of his caliber. All horses worked on throughness. Don Romance confirmed his passage. Oton Corales worked on his piaffe and passage. The young horses, Jolinda M and Leo, improved their basics. Hard work pays off!
Oh, little darlin', where have you been so long
The sweetest kid and the sweetest pony are a match made in heaven! Thank you Double G Stables for helping us to find this amazing pony, Cover Story a.k.a "Karina". Phoebe deserves the best, and she got it! We cannot wait to see how these girls grow together this year. Keep your eyes peeled for these two in the show ring this summer!
Winter Break wonderland
We were lucky to have this pair over winter break. Chloe and Leo kept it lively here at Stony Hill, and we enjoyed the enthusiasm! Talk about go-getters!
Presenting 2019 Nominee for National horse trainer of the Year, Wick Hotchkiss!
Congratulations to Wick Hotchkiss for being nominated for the 2019 National Horse Trainer of the Year Award. The award, part of Greatmats 5th Annual National Award Series, is designed to recognize Horse Trainers who have made a difference in the lives of their clients and community through the virtues of service, integrity and quality. Wick has done an incredible job creating a sanctuary for riders of all kinds and levels. Her work with the Stony Hill Stables Foundation is a staple in the East End community to create opportunity for kids to learn to ride, even if they don't have the means to participate in this very special sport.

Snow for Show!
These ladies braved the snow and cold to show off their hard work at Yaphank horse show. They took home so many top ribbons! Scarlett even won Champion in her first ever competition with Natalia! Stony Hill is so proud of all of these ladies!
First Pony love!
Scarlett is so excited to take her riding to the next level with Natalia. She has continued to be one of our most passionate and enthusiastic riders in camp and in lessons for years. We look forward to seeing her move up to the Children's Division this summer! Seeing Scarlett's dream come to life has been incredible; she's earned it!

This gentle giant has taken Christie's riding leaps and bounds since they began working together. We are proud to work with this incredible horse and rider pair. We look forward to seeing everything they can accomplish together!

Bailey is grinning from ear to ear for a reason -- her handsome boy Leonides has arrived at Stony Hill at last! Leo is a four year old Warmblood, and he's already in training with Wick and Bailey. He'll be a pro before we know it! He's just a baby, though, so he's still learning his manners and how to be a Big Horse. Congratulations, Bailey, on finding such a wonderful companion!

What a treat it was to have these four join us this summer! Luca and Blondie Merrylegs (on the left) and Ella and Crackerjack AKA Nigel (on the right) made friends wherever they went! The girls rode their hearts out all summer and into the fall, and now they're off to Wellington for the winter. Congratulations on your ponies and all those ribbons, girls!
Summer bliss!
Some of our favorite Stony Hill riders are back at it again this summer! Stella Bilman took on this goofy little tank, Bees Knees, and she looks forward to a summer of showing, taking her new pony to the top of the pack, in hopes of going to Pony Finals in Lexington, KY! Noah Bertrand just took his riding to the next level by leasing for the first time. He found the perfect teacher in Skye. What an amazing summer these pairs have ahead of them!

Team Stony Hill's show season has started off in style! At Old Field Farm on April 7th, Leila on Milo and Emma on Skittles made us proud. At the Princeton Spring Classic on April 21st, Ally on Otter, Emma on Skittles (again!), and Chloe on Cyrus kept it up! Congratulations to trainer Teri Engel, our talented riders, and their amazing horses!

Big congratulations to Izzie and Iona on their new mounts! On the left is Crystal Acres Twinkle Toes, also known as Pinky. She's just been leased by Izzie, who started riding at Stony Hill in 2014. We're looking forward to watching this pair ride and show this summer! On the right are Mason and Iona, who'll be together for a long time to come! Head Trainer Teri Engel found the perfect horse for one of our hardest-working riders!

Westbrook Hunt Club
Trainer Teri Engel and her clients hit the road to the beautiful Westbrook Hunt Club in Connecticut for a fun weekend of horses and showing. Riders all made great improvements, some even moving up divisions. Congratulations to Chloe Ford aboard Longview Farm's Cyrus for earning champion in the training hunters. Also- a massive congrats to Una Darrell and Carnush for bringing home sixth in the USHJA National Derby! And yet again- another try color for Anais and her newest pony, Spice it Up! Great riding girls and thanks to everyone for their help and hard work!
NEDA Fall Festival
Team SHS Dressage riders hit the road to take on the New England Dressage Association's Fall Festival at HITS Saugerties and didn't disappoint! Maureen Bluedorn's Cambronero earned a score of 71 in the Training Level, test 3 to win the class with Wick Hotchkiss in the irons. Congratulations to all for their hard work!

Team SHS and trainer Teri Engel had an excellent day showing this past weekend at the Long Island Horse Shows end of summer horseshow at Old Field Farm. A huge congratulations to all riders and their horses for excellent ribbons and many wins!

We are so thrilled to welcome to the barn Spice it Up, one adorable small pony from Florida and congratulations to Anais and the Dufresne family on their lease! Also a HUGE congrats to Anais for earning Reserve Champion her first show in the ring with Spicy!! A big thank you to Ponies and Palms of West Palm Beach Florida for this great pony and thank you to Teri Engle for bringing this pair together!
End of Summer Recap
And Just like that, Team SHS is looking back on a very fun and successful Summer 2018! We had a great three months of summer camp, and wrapped up with an outstanding Hampton Classic. Many thanks to all of our students and families and congratulations of a very triumphant show season! As always- thank you to the incredible staff that makes this all possible!
Stony Hill Summer Spectacular
That's a wrap! We hosted our 2nd Annual Stony Hill Summer Show Spectacular this past weekend and it was a hit! We were so happy to offer a show experience for new riders just getting their feet wet! The show also offered the opportunity for campers to partake in a horseshow and see for themselves what the process is like. It was a day full of laughs and snacks and ponies and LOTS of blue ribbons!! We can't wait until next year! Thank you to all of our clients for making it out and as always a HUGE thanks to all of our incredible staff for making such a fun day so possible!
Sagaponack II
Sagaponack II is a wrap! We ended the show with some excellent ribbons, some division move up's, and even some tri-color's! A special congratulations to Charlotte Kelly on her first show out with Maria Long's Louis Viutton earning reserve champion in the Pre Eq division. Many thanks to all of the families, groom staff, managers and trainers Marisa Bush and Teri Engle for their dedication to our fantastic riders and horses!

SHS Game day
Team SHS took a break from the August heat to have some much needed games and giggles! Thanks to Teri Engle for organizing and all the staff for making such a fun day possible for all the kiddos! We had the classic egg and spoon, crate paper race, high jump on foot, ride a buck and the ever hilarious donut race where riders were challenged to eat a hanging donut from horse back but some sly horses snuck in a bite where they could. Keep up with our Instagram for alerts to more fun activities like this throughout the remainder of the summer.

Sagaponack horse show
Team SHS had a blast showing in our back yard with our friends at the Topping Riding Club! Stony Hill sent 11 horses and multiple entries. All riders earned top ribbons in their respective divisions all while having a blast doing so. Again- big thanks to trainers Teri Engel and Marisa Bush for all of their hard work to prep these rockstars. And as always, we wouldn't be anywhere without our excellent staff of managers and grooms!
LIDA Summer Classic
Summer show season is in full swing now with SHS dressage riders out and about! This past weekend, four horses earned top honors in each of their respective tests. Congratulations riders and as always, thank you for the continued hard work and dedication from Owner/Trainer, Wick Hotchkiss!
Summer camp 2018
We're halfway through camp and having a blast at SHS! Proof positive that Stony Hill offers THE BEST horse camp on the east end! Extended camp is also in full swing with something new everyday! Thanks to farrier Rich Klauber for his demonstration!
