Stony Hill Stables is a premier hunter/jumper training and lesson facility located in the Hamptons. Our facility is on 10 acres and features state-of-the-art amenities including five indoor and outdoor riding arenas, professionally designed jump courses, regulation sized dressage arena, luscious grass paddocks, custom climate controlled tack room, and a 21 stall barn.

Activities Director

The ideal candidate has experience working with children of all ages. Our popular camp program focuses on encouraging a spirit of good sportsmanship, positive attitude, and individuality. Enthusiasm and creativity are a must, as is the ability to foster the love of horses and riding in children through lessons and activities. 

 

Activities Director(AD) is responsible for overseeing that every child is signed in and out by a parent when they arrive and leave.  AD will keep track of any children who wish to join extended day and get that information to the Camp Director and office manager.  AD will oversee the tent areas and ensure that things are running smoothly and the tent areas are clean at the end of the day.  AD will be responsible for maintaining order and making sure campers stay on schedule and remain safe.  AD will be responsible for conducting and overseeing various activities throughout the camp day.

Benefits include a wage of $22.00-24.00/hr, weekends off, and a portion of the end of summer camp tip. This is a short term position.

Camp Counselor

This is a great job for teens and young adults who LOVE working outside! It's mostly morning hours so there is still plenty of time for the beach in the afternoon.  We are seeking counselors and pony leaders from June 17-August 30. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is enthusiastic, has a positive attitude and is comfortable working with and around horses. Wage range is $16-$18/hr plus a portion of the end of summer camp tip.

                                                                  Experienced Groom

Stony Hill Stables in Amagansett, is looking for an experienced groom to join our team. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and reliable. Expectations include caring for Dressage sport horses as well as riding school horses. Duties include but are not limited to grooming, tacking, turning out, watering and feeding, doing laundry, cleaning tack and keeping work areas tidy. Full time desired, part time considered. Some experience necessary. Wage ranges from $20-$22/hr. Position available vailable starting in April 2024.

                                                                                Office Manager

The Stony Hill Stables Office Manager (OM) position encompasses the office, the school horse and camp programs. As such, the OM will be a catalyst for creating meaningful client relationships and will exhibit customer service skills in keeping with the high-performance standards of Stony Hill Stables.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone experienced in all aspects of business and office management. Some horse knowledge is required for this position. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about supporting the current and next generation of riders and who will help us promote the future of the sport. 

At Stony Hill Stables we teach basic Hunter jumper and dressage/flatwork and insights into horse behavior. We also have an extensive and highly popular camp program, and our USHJA recognized riding school is a feeder for a very successful showing and training hunter/jumper program. 

Stony Hill’s goals include bringing a higher degree of horsemanship to the area. Through various educational offerings, we aspire to bring horsemanship back to the forefront. The OM will be instrumental in helping facilitate that goal.

 

Stony Hill managers should work to differentiate Stony Hill by providing a more intimate, professional, quality experience that is centered around good horsemanship. At Stony Hill, we pride ourselves on our small, intimate, family-oriented environment. We are a team-oriented facility so the ability to work closely with others is a must. The candidate must have excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to develop and maintain positive client relationships. 

 

At Stony Hill we take every opportunity to give back to the local community through discounted local lessons, work study programs and the Stony Hill Stables Foundation. As one of the few remaining lesson programs, and the largest on the East End, Stony Hill continues to nurture the love of riding in our current clients and is the starting point for the next generation of riders. Creating and maintaining the passion for the sport that we hold so close to our hearts is paramount to our overall success

Salary Info:

  • $1200.00 weekly salary to start

  • 5-5 1/2 days/week (off season/in season)

  • Bonuses, Simple matching IRA, HSA and 1 week paid vacation after 1 year of employment
